Model Context Protocol
An open protocol through which AI applications can connect to tools, data, and other capabilities supplied by servers. The application controls permissions and how those capabilities are used.
For example
An application connects to a calendar MCP server, discovers its tools, and offers an approved calendar lookup to the model.
